About Me

About Me

I am a software engineer.

Well, there’s a bit more to me than that, but as a profession and passion, I’m a full-blown Software Engineer. Most of my income comes from software developing endeavors, including technologies like JAVA, C#, C++, VbScript, as well as Web techologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript/JQuery.

I'm also in love with gaming, making passive income online and everything related with health and fitness.

My Personal Life

As mentioned earlier, I’m a video gaming enthusiastic. I was born in Portugal and lived there for all my life, and as soon as I could buy a PC, I purchased an old 386 Intel PC gaming station. Don’t get me wrong, I love my work and learning about health, fitness and making money, but this guy was made to play and entertain doing so.

My love for games made me create my YouTube channel to share my passion with the rest of the world and make them entertained. If you like gaming, learning about health and fitness, football/soccer or just have a good laugh, I urge you to check my YouTube channel, you won't regret it.

Besides my long lived passion of football, I love also basketball but this time not to watch it and cheer for a specific team but to play it! I've played basketball from when I was 8 years old until 18 when I enrolled in a computer science degree and I didn't have enough time to reconcile between college and basketball at the highest level in Portugal.

I put a high value on balancing work and social life. I love my family and friends. As you can imagine, constantly gaming, searching for ways to better myself physically and always be aware of new opportunities to make money online keeps me my social life hard to manage, but I do discipline myself not to overwork and save some time for myself and my social life.

When I’m not nerding out on the computer, I’m hanging out with my family and friends. Aside from my mentioned hobbies, I love to travel. I always try to travel abroad for at least one time each year. Which allowed me to visit almost all of Europe and some South/Central American as well as some Asian countries. I still have to managed to get my butt on Africa and Oceania.

Last by not least, I’m an avid student of health and fitness. I exercise for at least 1-2 hours daily, some in the morning and then in the afternoon without exception.

My Career Before Becoming a Software Engineer

I graduated from I.S.E.L. (Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa) with a master's degree in Computer Science and Engineering (M.E.I.C.) and I have done a postgraduate degree in Management Information Systems (G.S.I.) at I.S.E.G. (Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão).

Yep, I’m a big-time nerd. The guy who likes to figure out how things work from the inside… that’s me. And to answer your question… Yes, I played World of Warcraft. A lot.

My career ultimately landed me at where I'm now, a government organisation focused on science and technology. There I work as a developer using a vast number of technologies always trying to improve myself and the company itself.

I've learned some important lessons from this job, which without-a-doubt benefit me today.

  1. How to test – Some software we develop is ridiculously complex. We were constantly developing new features that required accurate and isolated tests to make sure it worked.
  2. How to work efficiently - There is always so much work, that unless you learned to be quick and efficient, you’d be dead in a week.
  3. You always have to be on top of the latest technologies - Some emerging technologies helps us a lot when we are designing and developing some complex challenges.

Now that I'm in a somewhat more senior position, I have more time to pursuit my other hobbies and to lead and manage my team of developers.
